Alors que les élections municipales approchent à grands pas, les maires écologistes des grandes villes sont préoccupés par le score de leur parti aux élections européennes. En effet, une baisse significative est observée comparée au scrutin de 2019.
Une baisse de vote pour les écologistes dans les grandes villes
En 2019, la liste menée par Marie Toussaint avait su séduire environ 20% des électeurs. Cependant, lors du scrutin du 9 juin dernier, la candidate écologiste ne recueillait que 11,2% à Lyon, 10,9% à Bordeaux, 9% à Strasbourg et 12,9% à Grenoble. À Annecy, le score était encore plus bas, passant de 19,3% en 2019 à 8,3%.
Il faut noter que ces scores restent supérieurs à la moyenne nationale obtenue par Europe Ecologie-Les Verts (EELV), qui est de 5,5%. Emmanuel Denis, maire EELV de Tours, souligne également une résistance plus forte face à l’extrême droite dans ces villes.
Une performance comparée aux municipales de 2020
Le contraste est encore plus frappant lorsqu’on compare ces résultats aux municipales de 2020. À cette époque, les écologistes avaient fréquemment dépassé les 30% de votes. À Grenoble, Eric Piolle avait même obtenu 46,7% dès le premier tour.
Un avenir incertain pour les écologistes ?
La question se pose alors : ces résultats annoncent-ils un avenir moins radieux pour les écologistes ? Thierry Dominici, maître de conférences à l’université de Bordeaux, recommande la prudence. Selon lui, le succès municipal de 2020 s’explique en partie par un rapprochement réussi entre les deux branches de l’écologie politique, l’"écologie institutionnelle" et l’"écologie radicale".
Des défis à relever pour les municipalités écologistes
Cependant, ces municipalités, composées en grande partie de militants de la société civile, ont dû faire face aux défis de la gestion quotidienne. Selon M. Dominici, ces municipalités sont rapidement devenues des forces institutionnelles, perdant progressivement leur électorat qui s’est lassé de cette situation.
Pour Léonore Moncond’huy, maire (Les Ecologistes) de Poitiers, l’enjeu majeur est de maintenir le lien avec les militants tout en assurant une gestion crédible. Elle affirme ne pas être contestée par la frange écologiste radicale.
